Alibaug |Murud Janjira , Alibaug beach , Kashid beach|

Once upon a time their was a girl named Asmi who had travel plans to Alibaug. Wait wait, i would like to put a disclaimer that its not an old school story. its a blog which is completely about her expedition to Alibaug.

Alibag, also known as Alibaug is a coastal town just south of Mumbai, in western India. It is known for it's beaches like Alibaug Beach and Varsoli Beach. Just off-shore, Kolaba Fort has carvings of tigers and elephants and temples dedicated to Hindu Gods. To the south, Portuguese-built Korlai Fort dates 1521 and includes a lighthouse. The island of Janjira has high, walls, turrets and cannons.

Alibaug can be visited in a cab or bus or a train or in a ferry (from Mumbai) . Travelling by ferry will be an exciting experience but we couldn't do so as we went there from Pune. But travelling in cab will be less stressful.

Murud Janjira is the local name of a famous fort and tourist place situated on an island just off the coastal village of Murud , in Raigad district of Maharashtra, India. The word Janjira is not native to India, and may have originated after the Arabic word "Janjeera", which means an island. Murud was once known is Marathi as Habsan ("of Habshi or Abyssinian"). The name of the fort is a concatenation of Konkani and is absent in Marathi.

The main gate of the fort faces Rajapuri on the shore and can be seen only when one is about 40 feet (12 m) away from it. It has a small postern gate towards the open sea for escape. Kalak Bangadi is the 3rd largest cannon in India.

Fresh coconut water and nimbu shikanji (lemonade) are the two special drinks which you can get by the bay.

After visiting Murud Janjira, we drove straight to Kashid beach. It was nice and beautiful over there. Moreover it was peaceful as less number of people were present there. It was pretty clean and the restaurants by the bay was also traveler-friendly.

After having a relishing lunch in Kashid Beach, we drove to Alibaug Beach where the famous Kolaba Fort is residing which was also the last spot of the day. There were ample amount of water sports. I went for jet skiing.

Overall our trip to Alibaug was adventurous and peaceful and i hope to visit the place again.
